Holly went back to her dad's tonight. I love her dearly, but I'm a bit relieved, because being around a 6 yr old 24-7 (what with me not having a JOB) gets to me after awhile. At least last summer we had the pool to break up the constant in-my-faceness. She's loads of fun, but sometimes I just want to relax. 6 yr olds don't relax. I plan to sleep alot tonight and tomorrow.
Tonight after Scott came to get Holly my parents invited me to dinner with them and my sister. Since it's my sister's last night in town, I agreed.
Even though it's Saturday night.
We decide to go to Rockfish, which I'd never been to before, mainly because my parents like it and I'd been wanting to try it. My sister was at my house, so we loaded up to meet them there.
We arrived at this snack-bar sized restaurant with tables crammed in every nook and peanut shells all over the floors. It was going to take 35-40 minutes to get a table (duh, because it's Saturday night.) I don't normally wait for a table... ever. Which is why I so rarely go out to eat on Friday or Saturday nights. I had agreed tonight because it was my sister's last night in town.
I wish I'd remembered the last time I went with my parents out to eat on a weekend. It was the last time it was my sister's last night in town. We went to TGI Fridays and it was a total disaster; I ended up so pissed off by the end of the night that I vowed to never go out to eat on a weekend again.
Obviously, I didn't stick to that vow. So, like I said, tiny little dive. No good places even to stand around while you wait for your table because they didn't really have a bar to speak of. Then my sister got pissed off that we got a shitty table (and we did), I was pissed off because we were in some tiny little dive waiting for a table, and my mom was acting like nothing that bothered us was relevant. I have to give props to the waittress, though, she got everything right. Plus she had a white streak in her hair that made her look like Rogue if Rogue wore a ponytail. The food wasn't even that good! Why the hell do people rave about this place? It was mediocre! They didn't even have a great selection! Watch, I'll post this then people will be saying "Oh, you have to eat [insert stupidly-named entree here]". Well, just for you, here's my answer. NO. I'm not gonna. They had one original food (that I noticed) and it wasn't good enough to warrant a return trip. I hate places with that redneck bar atmosphere. I guess it would be OK to have peanut shells on the floor if the rest of the place didn't look like it was about to be cleared out to make room for the square dancin'.
I'm so urban :)
I probably won't go out to eat on a weekend again until my sister's next visit. I hate waiting.
