Pokemon Red - Are we not men?
Pokemon Red
Did I already mention this? I don't think I did. I caught Mew Two with an ultraball - because I'd left the master ball in the PC. It wasn't even hard, and my Pokemon were only like level 70 or so. I tell you what, Lovely Kiss is a sweet technique. It works better than Sing. I can't find the Earthquake TM, I forgot where it was. I think I have enough Pokemon info, though, to have my own Pokemon website. Jynx is a very cool pokemon to have, although the lack of Psybeam is a bit annoying. See, lately I've tried using pokemon that are not my usual favourites, just to see what they can do. Some of them are really cool, and some of them are not. The main problem I've noticed is that they learn the techniques of which you only get 10 or 15 or so. Works out well like at Pokemon league or something, but not so well in, say, Seafoam.
Now, when we first went to Pokemon League, like, level 60-65, yeah it was hard. But you'd think that by level 72 my Nidoking would be just kickin the shit out of everything that came it's way. But it's not! I understand when it's some special attack that really has nothing to do with a Nidoking (it knows Thunderbolt) but when it's not? Like, it should be plowin through things. I'm beginning to suspect it's gotten a little weaker the past two levels than stronger. That bothers me. Actually I think Nidoking won't be in my final lineup ever again, even though it is imposing and knows double-kick.

Well, I'm off to play Pokemon Gold now hee hee :) I think after I finish all the Pokemon games in existence I'll start cataloguing things like attacks learned and level learned, and other things that seem minute but that I like to know. Odds of me making a website are small, but odds of me making a standalone proggy like the old PC Pokedex - high :)

dude, if you do, you should add a function for the user to enter data about what pokemon they've caught and what box they're in. i'm always forgetting what box they're in unless i make a text file or something.

 Re:
ooh, that's a good one. Right now I have it so I can track which Pokemon I have in which game, but which box as well would be convenient. I'm yonks away from that, though, right now I'm still working on what attacks which Pokemon learn in which version.

in the similar-type thingy i was gonna make but never got very far with, i was gonna do all the usual pokedex stuff (types, whatever) but have it keep track of the pokemon you've caught (what box they're in, what level they are, what moves they know, what item they're holding)...since that's the sort of info i can never remember while playing. i've gotten into the habit of keeping a database (usually a comma-delimited text file linked to an access database) as i play to keep track of all this (and even stuff that doesn't matter, like ID number and nickname), so entering the data in an application that managed it for me wouldn't be a huge inconvenience. i just don't have the general pokedex data that would be useful, which you do have (like what moves it will learn when, breeding compatibility, battle charts, etc).

 Re:
I tried keeping track of all that, but then it got to where I just kept track of which pokemon I actually *had* (rather than 'have caught and are registered in the pokedex'). With R/B/Y keeping track of nicknames would be good, but with G/S/C it's not so critical.
Holly used to play Yellow and go into Safari Zone and catch whatever the hell she could find, so I have about 30 Nidoran with wacky 4 year old nicknames, like Tadiffery and Llagipoon. Figuring out which of *those* things was a Chansey was a big pain in the ass, let me tell you.

Well, I'm not motivated enough right now to install VB on my machine and I probably won't be until I get another HD (mine gets full fast) but I might put together a preliminary Access version.

I don't think those would bring me as much pleasure as the actual RPG.

 Re: wai!
Yah, I was checkin out the screenshots released last week of the new battle scenes (it was on ign.com) Still not as good as Stadium, but who cares, the whole thing looks really really good on GBA!!
The *bad* news is that, also according to IGN, Pokemon Advance isn't scheduled for release until 2003. Course, I don't know if they mean in America or in Japan, because I promise if my GBA can play japanese games, I'm going to own Pokemon Advance in japanese :)

 Re: wai!
Those are the only images anywhere!! SOMEone is stealing images!! THose are the same screeenshots on IGN, and those non-screenshots were on a different webpage like 3 or 4 months ago.
I found this mega thabomb game shop today - Game Xchange, on 75 in between Park and 15th (southbound). It totally rules over Gamestop, and if you don't *like* the game you just bought? They'll exchange it for the price you paid for it towards a new game! Gamestop doesn't do that. Jerks.
