I went and rented movies (probably not the best possible use of my money, but eh), and I rented an old movie called The Boogens. I have a feeling I saw it many many years ago, I most definitely remember the ads for it. It's a 1981 horror movie, so I wasn't expecting much in the way of actual scary. But let me tell you, I am sitting with my feet up off the floor! I knew it would be a good movie because there's a grizzled old man in it.
All movies are better with a grizzled old man in them. This movie is either good and scary, or I've been watching kid shows so much it SEEMS good and scary. I'm all "Don't go in the basement!" Every sound the wind makes has me jumping :)
One thing that I always wonder about at the end of monster movies is how all the strange occurences are explained to the authorities. Surely the two people who survive in these movies are the prime suspects for the murders? And how does anyone explain the blast that seals up the evil again? What about those times when there is a huge monster dead in the garden? And why do people put more than one cat in the same basket? Cats in baskets, hehehe.
