See, a guy was in his restaurant bitching that the french fries (yes, in those days chefs made french fries) were too thick. Chef Crum took offense to this complaint, and decided to shut that whiner the hell up. So he cut the potatos so thin they were almost transparent, and fried 'em up.
"Hah, let's see him call THESE 'too thick'!"
But he didn't call them too thick - he called them delicious!
