Had a dream
I had a dream that I got a Yu-gi-oh booster pack and all the cards I got were shiny. I had a Blue Eyes White Dragon, and something else mega cool that isn't a real card. I think it was Red MonkeyFist or something. I wish I could remember. So, in the dream, I kept showing my cards to Holly. I think she has a BEWD in real life anyway.

So, in other news, well, I'll have to filter the other news, but how about a general question first.

Next week is Christmas, and many many people are going to be out of the office. I'd say 80% of this floor will be gone the next couple of weeks. So, if everyone's gone, what's the harm in wearing bluejeans on the 3 working days (22, 23, 24 & 29, 30, 31) of each week? None! No one's going to see me anyway.

I don't know whether to ask or to just do.

Also, bbcorno, I owe you $5. I don't want to forget.

At Wal-Mart, we have to pay $1 to a children's fund to wear jeans on Fridays. We're not allowed any other day. Tell the manager the next time you see a sales clerk wearing jeans, for shits and giggles.
I'm kinda pissed Blue Eyes White Dragon is so common, it's supposed to be some super badass card...
Have you seen that movie where there's this little wussy kid Shogo who got one and Kaiba steals it from him and Yuugi has to go kick his ass to get it back?... that movie was short.

Are you gonna eat that?

I didn't see that movie. But another place I worked had that same scheme -- but it was Mondays. You could wear bluejeans on Mondays if you paid a dollar or whatever to the charity and got a sticker announcing your participation in the charity program. It was actually a cool program.

I know way too much about the Yu-Gi-Oh TCG to not be a player...
The only BEWD that's really common is the one that comes in the Kaiba Starter Deck. My brother and his friends call all Starter Deck cards "cheaters", and don't use them.

He has a LOB BEWD, which actually is reasonably rare and difficult to get without resorting to ebay or buying an entire set (the lucky little bastard actually got it the hard way, out of a booster pack, too).

How can you tell the difference in starter-pack cards and booster-pack cards?

Just below the right-hand corner of the picture there's a code consisting of three letters and three numbers, indicating which set the card was issued in, and what number the card is in that set. My brother knows all the codes, but here's what I know off the top of my head:

SDY - Starter Deck Yugi
SDK - Starter Deck Kaiba
SDJ - Starter Deck Joey
SDP - Starter Deck Pegasus
LOB - Legend of Blue-Eyes White Dragon
PSV - Pharaoh's Servant
LON - Labyrinth of Nightmare
and so on...

I would just do it. Asking is only asking to be told "no" in most cases. If they care, they can send you home to change; you're a contractor, it'll be on your time anyway. Call me cynical, but, well, i am.

See, there won't be anyone here who would send me home. If it was a gross indiscretion, it would be communicated behind my back to my superiors. That would be bad.

That kind of a setup would drive me abso-freaking-lutely insane. I really hate not having the person i actually report to around. Especially if there are spiteful little trolls about who could do something like that. I'm just a feedback addict, i suppose.

Yeah, I agree. If it's a no-no and I don't hear about it, what am I supposed to do? Screw those corporate minions.

It *is* a no-no, most of the year. The question is, is it a no-no when no one else is in the office.

It's not set up that way. It's that way for the two weeks surrounding Christmas, because everyone is going to be on vacation.

Every second Friday (the day after pay day) we have a free dress day at work where we can dress down for a donation to charity. We raise quite a bit during the year. The money raised from the Friday just gone will be going to the office's chosen Christmas family (ie. a low income three child household we are providing gifts to through the Salvation Army). Management has also declared Christmas Eve a free dress day, no donations required.

Many of our staff are going to be away for the three working days next week also, which is gonna suck somewhat as they are the busiest three days of the year for us. At Christmas, the government brings social security payments forward, so we end up with twice as many people lodging their dole forms on most days in the week before Christmas. Oh well. At least we get to wear what we want on Christmas Eve.
