I finally saw Return of the King
tonight. I was late, because I got confused on how to get to the theater, but luckily valamelmeo
had bought my ticket already. Thank you! Because like, the line was sooooooo long! I thought I was going to have to stand in line just to miss the first 30 minutes of the movie. That theater was so crowded! Dude, the dollar theater isn't that crowded on weekends! Or even on fifty-cent night! I've seen similar crowds at the mall on Saturday nights at the cinema, but damn! This theater was just randomly placed near some stuff! It wasn't even in a mall!
Anyway, here's my take on the movie. Spoilers. As if anyone didn't see it already. I'm the last person on the planet to have seen it!
So, like, that beacon thing gets lit, and then there's all these other ones down the line, and then suddenly they show one at the very peak of a snow-capped mountain, with nothing else around. Who the hell lit that one? Does one hermit monk live up there with the sole purpose of lighting a beacon? or is there a pulley system or something?
OK, I'm pretty sure Kym and I were the only ones who laughed when King Nutso was on fire and he ran through the place and then fell of the edge there. I can't help it, that's a Wile E. Coyote type of move!
Then, at the end, whenever Frodo wakes up in a bed, and then Merry and Pippin come in there, and they're all playing around on the bed. Can you say Shonen-Ai? I tried to laugh to myself, but when Gimli appeared in the doorway I just lost it. Imagine a big orgy with 3 hobbits and a dwarf.
Then, at the VERY end (geez was that epilogue long enough?) I could swear that Frodo and Sam were gonna make out. In fact, any time there was a touching buddy scene, I whispered "They're gonna make out." I'm probably terribly annoying to go to movies with.
Off-topic: In the Bebop movie, Jet and Spike are on the banks of the river, and Jet goes "Looks like you're gonna be allright." and Spike goes "What about Vincent?" and I wish Jet had responded "He'll probably be OK too."
Back on-topic. Man, that Legolas. He can kick some ass! But I was kinda disappointed that we didn't get the final count from either him or Gimli after that battle. I swore they were gonna make out at one point.
Thanks also to Kym for my birthday present! I'll take a pic of it tomorrow. But right now I'm tired.
WHOOPS I meant to post this last night. I suck. I'm going back to bed.
